CitiZEN DOG's Commitment to elevating the human-canine bond
In the last 3 years, Jeff has trained 100+ NYC dogs from all stages of their lives. This really means educating each pup's parent(s) with the right knowledge in building better communication and leadership skills to enhance and improve their bond with their lifelong companion.  It certainly was not a dog trainer that said you can't teach an old dog new tricks.  Jeff can attest that dogs can change and learn just as humans do whether they are a puppy or dog in the beginning of their senior years.

Ten years ago, Jeff developed a much deeper understanding of the human-canine relationship when he rescued a schnauzer puppy, Disco and adopted him. Disco was socialized on 54th Street in the bustling Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan. You're correct if you guessed that their apartment was a stone's throw from the historic 1970's dance club, Studio 54, hence the name Disco.

Disco displayed exceptional qualities from the start, including an incredibly calm and focused demeanor. Although Jeff relied on Disco as his own comfort animal, he knew Disco's unique personality could be of service to others. Through The Good Dog Foundation, Disco was trained to interact with all populations and put smiles on the faces of everyone he encountered. Disco's work spanned the lives of many. However, his finest moment was granting the last wish of a young man with pancreatic cancer who adored dogs but didn’t have one of his own. Disco immediately went to work to comfort him by nuzzling his nose under this man's hand. This brought a smile to this man’s face one last time before he passed.

CitiZEN DOG NYC consists of specialized, science-based training methods meant to help dogs stay calm in chaotic environments, be attentive to their handlers, and live well-adjusted lives in urban environments like Manhattan. Jeff strives to teach pet parents how to establish leadership instead of dominance, clear communication without baby talk, and a daily structure that sets their best friends up for success. Jeff believes that in the near future it will become mainstream that our dogs play a huge role in assisting their humans by monitoring health, alerting us to viruses and/or cancers and performing the complex tasks that our amazing, specially trained service dogs perform.

Another key component to the CitiZEN DOG NYC wellness brand is nutrition.  Statistics show that one in two dogs are diagnosed with cancer and like humans it's been proven that processed foods and preservatives are one of the leading causes. To educate dog parents of the importance of fresh food in our dog's diets, CitiZEN DOG NYC has created a fresh dog food topper called Disco SNAX. Disco of course taste tests each batch to provide feedback on its flavor.  Disco himself taste tests each small batch to provide the stamp of approval before the goods are delivered. This is different from the Farmer's Dog recipe, since its refined and sophisticated ingredients are meant for the Urban Dog.  Locally sourced meats, fresh from the butcher, and organic vegetables are blended into three different recipes depending on age, weight, and other special nutritional requirements and/or allergies.
